BALLET UNIFORMS BY LEVEL
PRE BALLET
- Pink or skin-tone ballet shoes and tights (both should be the same color). Weehawken carries traditional pink shoes and tights. If your dancer would like a skin tone that better matches their complexion, please reach out—we're happy to help you order the appropriate shoes and tights.
- Any dance attire that allows for movement, including leotards, skirts, tutus, tights, etc. No jeans.
- Hair should be pulled back, preferably in a ballet bun if possible.
PRIMARY BALLET
- Pink or skin-tone ballet shoes and tights (both should be the same color). These will also be worn for performances. Weehawken stocks traditional pink. If your dancer would prefer a skin tone that better matches their complexion, please contact us—we're happy to help.
- Pink skirted leotard from Revolution Dancewear. This can be purchased through Weehawken.
- Hair should be secured in a ballet bun.
BALLET LEVEL 1/2 & 2/3
- Pink or skin-tone ballet shoes and tights (both should be the same color). These will also be worn for performances. Weehawken stocks traditional pink. If your dancer would prefer a skin tone that better matches their complexion, please contact us—we're happy to help.
- Light blue leotard from Revolution Dancewear (any style). This can be purchased through Weehawken.
- Hair should be secured in a ballet bun.
BOY'S BALLET ATTIRE
- Black ballet shoes.
- Dance pants or tights with a fitted shirt. Comfortable athletic clothing is also acceptable. No jeans.
- Hair should be pulled back and secured if it is long enough to fall into the face. Long hair should be worn in a ballet bun whenever possible.
BALLET LEVELS 3/4
- Burgundy leotard (any style).
- Classic pink or skin-tone ballet shoes and tights. Ballet shoes should be the same color as the tights. These will also be worn for performances. Weehawken stocks traditional pink. If your dancer would prefer a skin tone that better matches their complexion, please contact us—we're happy to help.
- Hair should be secured in a ballet bun.
BALLET LEVELS 4/5 & 5/6
- Black leotard (any style).
- Classic pink or skin-tone ballet shoes and tights. Ballet shoes should be the same color as the tights. These will also be worn for performances. Weehawken stocks traditional pink. If your dancer would prefer a skin tone that better matches their complexion, please contact us—we're happy to help.
- Hair should be secured in a ballet bun.
BALLET DANCEWEAR
We carry basic pink ballet shoes, convertible tights, select leotards, Primary–Level 2 ballet uniforms, and Weehawken logo wear at our studios and through the 610 Arts Collective online store. Items ordered through the 610 store will be delivered to your dancer's class for pickup.

- Pointe students: Weehawken does not sell pointe shoes. Please do not purchase pointe shoes until your instructor has approved your dancer. Visit our Pointe page for information about fittings and purchasing pointe shoes.
ORDERING FROM THE 610 ARTS COLLECTIVE
For tights, ballet slippers, jazz shoes, and uniforms for Primary, Level 1, and Level 2 ballet girls, please order through Weehawken's 610 Arts Collective online store using the link below.
Your items will be delivered to your dancer's class for pickup. Please select "Pick Up" at checkout rather than "Shipping" to avoid shipping charges.
NEED HELP WITH SIZING?
Ouray County: During business hours (Tuesday–Friday, 10:00 AM–5:00 PM), call the 610 Arts Collective at 970-318-0308. Staff can assist you with sizing and provide access to a classroom at 610 Clinton Street in Ridgway for an in-person fitting.
Montrose: In-person sizing assistance is available during dance class hours, typically in the afternoons and evenings.

BALLET ATTIRE
In addition to their required uniform, dancers may wear leg warmers, ballet skirts (no tutus), solid black or coordinating fitted athletic shorts, and ballet sweaters for warm-up. It is up to the instructor's discretion whether these items may be worn beyond warm-up. Discount Dance, Dance Distributors and Amazon offer many options.
Appropriate footwear is required for all classes. Students must wear the required shoes for their class and the footwear selected by the instructor for performances.
Female Ballet Students (Primary Level and Up)
- Must wear the designated ballet uniform to class.
- During rehearsals, dancers may wear other dancewear, but no street clothes.
- Acceptable rehearsal attire includes a leotard with tights, shorts, leggings, leg warmers, a ballet skirt, or fitted dance pants.
- Hair must be secured in a ballet bun. If hair is too short, it should be pulled back with clips or a headband.
Female Partnering Students
Students participating in Pas de Deux must wear a leotard and tights. Leg warmers and loose or baggy clothing are not permitted, as they can create a safety hazard during lifts and partnering.
SUMMER DANCE
During the summer session, ballet dancers may wear a leotard of any color with tights. Beginning in the fall semester, dancers are expected to wear the designated ballet uniform for their level.
