WEEHAWKEN DANCE PRESENTS PETER PAN, MAY 2023

Dive into the captivating world of aerial dance at Weehawken Creative Arts! Our classes offer a unique blend of fitness and artistic expression, providing a thrilling experience for participants of all ages and skill levels.

In our aerial silks class, you'll learn to perform stunning acrobatics while suspended from fabric, mastering graceful maneuvers that defy gravity. Alternatively, explore the strength and elegance of the lyra hoop as you navigate captivating aerial routines on a circular steel ring. For a blend of fitness and mindfulness, our float and flow (aerial & pilates) class focuses on building strength, flexibility, and body awareness both on the ground and in the air. 

Our youth classes provide a safe and fun introduction to aerial silks and lyra, igniting a passion for acrobatic dance in young participants.

Weehawken Dance Presents Nutcracker Sweets, December 2022

Join us for our comprehensive ballet program designed to instill a love for dance while fostering technical proficiency and artistic expression. Weehawken’s ballet classes cater to dancers of all ages and skill levels, providing a supportive and nurturing environment for growth.

From our introductory Pre-Ballet class, where young dancers explore creativity and movement fundamentals, to our advanced Ballet 5/6 classes, reserved for students with years of formalized training, we offer a structured curriculum aligned with the American Ballet Theatre National Training Curriculum and The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing training. This ensures a progressive and systematic approach to ballet training, emphasizing proper technique, musicality, and artistic development.

Each class incorporates barre work, center exercises, and across-the-floor combinations tailored to the specific level and needs of the students. Whether your child is taking their first plié or mastering complex allegro sequences, our experienced instructors provide individualized attention to help students reach their full potential.

• About The American Ballet Theatre National Training Curriculum: Weehawken Dance proudly includes the AMERICAN BALLET THEATRE® NATIONAL TRAINING CURRICULUM, an 8-level program that combines high-quality artistic training with dancer health and child development basics. The curriculum provides age-appropriate, outcome-based guidelines to ensure the highest quality ballet training for students of all ages and skill levels. Primary through Level 7 is taught by ABT® Certified Teacher, Natasha Pyeatte, who has completed the ABT® Teacher Training Intensive in Primary through Level 7 of the curriculum.
• About The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing: Although the French School of Classical Ballet dates back to the early 17th century, Imperial Classical Ballet aims to provide classical training for the 21st century dancer, offering something for everyone, regardless of age or ability. Over its 110-year history the Imperial Classical Ballet Faculty, in all its manifestations, has supported ballet training to achieve, in the words of d’Albert “The elevation and advancement of the Art of Dancing, and the preservation of its ancient prestige and dignity.” It continues to lead and influence the international promotion of the English classical style. Miss Pang has earned the Fellowship in Imperial Classical Ballet with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD)—the highest level of ballet teaching certification in the English-speaking world.

WEEHAWKEN DANCE PRESENTS THE WIZARD OF OZ, MAY 2025

Circus Dance = Hip Hop, Jazz & Aerial!

This playful and engaging class combines the energy of hip hop and jazz dance with the wonder of beginner aerial arts! Dancers will build rhythm, coordination, and confidence through upbeat, age-appropriate dance combinations, then explore foundational aerial skills using fabric in a knot to safely develop strength, flexibility, and spatial awareness.

Each class includes both ground-based and aerial movement, helping young movers grow in confidence, creativity, and performance skills. Perfect for kids who love to climb, spin, and express themselves through dance and flight!

Dancers will be barefoot for this class—no shoes required. Please follow the aerial dress code for attire.

Weehawken Dance Presents Alice in Wonderland, May 2024

Embark on a journey through the dynamic world of hip hop dance at Weehawken Dance! Our hip hop program offers a range of classes catering to all levels, from beginners to advanced dancers.

Led by our experienced instructors, our hip hop classes explore a variety of styles and techniques, from basic fundamentals to intricate choreography. Students will learn strong body movements, agility, and street dance in a fun and supportive environment.

From mastering the fundamentals in our Pre & Primary Hip Hop class to honing advanced skills in Hip Hop 5/6, our classes emphasize technique, vocabulary, and creative expression. Whether you're perfecting popping and waving or unleashing your freestyle moves, our classes provide the perfect blend of strength, power, and control.

For those seeking a fusion of hip hop and emotion, our Lyrical Hip Hop class offers a unique experience, blending contemporary-inspired steps with storytelling through movement.

• Hip-Hop Dress Code: Students should wear hip-hop shoes (shoes specifically for dance class) and hair pulled out of the face. Hats encouraged!
• Black Flat Bottomed Sneakers (Black Converse work well or order from link above), pants that cover the knees. Shoes used for class should not be used as street-shoes. No spaghetti straps, no skirts or jeans, and no exposed bellies.

Get ready to bring the energy and excitement to the dance floor with our Jazz/Poms class at Weehawken Dance!

This dynamic class combines the flair of jazz dance with the spirited elements of cheerleading, all while incorporating pom poms for a visually stunning performance. POM-style dancing, popularized by dance teams nationwide, takes center stage as students learn a variety of techniques including jumps, turns, leaps, kick-lines, and a touch of hip hop.

Led by our experienced instructors, students will channel their strength, sharpness, and energy to master the art of Poms dancing. Whether you're a seasoned dancer looking to add some pep to your step or a newcomer eager to explore the world of jazz and cheer, this class is perfect for you!

Pom Poms are provided for the students during class time.

Immerse yourself in the emotional storytelling of lyrical hip hop at Weehawken Dance.

This captivating class blends the rhythm and attitude of hip hop with the expressive grace of contemporary-inspired movements, all set to the emotive lyrics of powerful songs. Lyrical hip hop transcends traditional dance boundaries, allowing dancers to convey a range of emotions – from sadness and anger to joy and love – through fluid, dynamic movement.

Led by our experienced instructors, students will explore a fusion of styles including popping, waving, contemporary/jazz, and improvisation/freestyle. While prior knowledge of contemporary or jazz dance is not required, a foundation in hip hop dance is essential to fully engage with the class.

Enhance your ballet training with our Pointe classes at Weehawken Dance! Led by our experienced instructors, our Pointe classes offer intermediate-advanced ballet students the opportunity to refine their technique and artistry while embracing the challenges and rewards of dancing en pointe.

As an integral part of our ballet curriculum, Pointe classes at Weehawken Dance are rooted in the rich tradition of classical ballet while embracing innovative techniques from the American Ballet Theatre National Training Curriculum and The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing training. Led by our ABT® Certified Teacher, Natasha Pyeatte, and Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing instructor Miss Pang, our Pointe program ensures the highest quality training for students of all ages and skill levels.

Pre-pointe work begins at age 10, with pointe work starting at age 11 with instructor approval. This non-performing class focuses on technique, requiring students to complete 1 semester of pre-pointe before advancing to pointe shoes. Once students get their pointe shoes, they must attend 2 ballet classes per week in addition to pointe class and summer sessions.

Whether you're embarking on your first pair of pointe shoes or honing your skills as a seasoned dancer, our Pointe program offers a transformative journey of growth, discovery, and artistry. Experience the grace, elegance, and power of pointe work at Weehawken Dance!

From mastering fundamental steps to navigating complex rhythms and syncopation, our classes provide a holistic tap education that encourages growth and inspiration.

As students progress through class levels, they continue to refine their tap technique and expand their vocabulary. Advanced students focus on enhancing musicality, clarity, and speed while exploring various tap styles and combinations. From mastering time steps to showcasing showmanship, dancers develop coordination, precision, and artistry in a supportive and dynamic environment.
