Helping More Students Participate

Weehawken Creative Arts believes financial circumstances should not prevent interested students from accessing meaningful arts education.

Our scholarship fund is supported by generous community donations and varies each season. The amount of assistance available depends on the type of scholarship requested, demonstrated financial need, and available funding.

Scholarship assistance may be available for youth dance, aerial, and other Weehawken Creative Arts programs throughout our service region.

Please note: The application forms contain the current eligibility requirements, award limits, and recipient commitments. If information on this overview page differs from an application, the terms stated in the application apply.

Scholarship Recipient Expectations

Scholarship funds are limited and made possible through community support. Students and families who accept an award agree to meet the commitments included in their application and award notification.

  • Attendance: Students must maintain at least 80% attendance. Absences due to illness, injury, or another approved circumstance may be excused.
  • Participation: Students are expected to arrive prepared, participate positively, and follow the same classroom and behavior expectations as all Weehawken students.
  • Volunteer commitment: The current needs-based application requires at least eight hours of volunteer service for each class scholarship awarded.
  • Donor appreciation: Scholarship recipients may be asked to write a thank-you note to the donor, nominator, or organization that helped fund the award.

Additional Scholarship Policies

  • Applicants must disclose enrollment in other dance or arts programs and other extracurricular activities during the semester for which assistance is requested.
  • Scholarship recipients must receive prior approval from the Weehawken Dance Artistic Director before participating in another dance program during the scholarship period.
  • Scholarship families may purchase regular performance tickets but are not eligible to purchase premium reserved or front-row seating.
