For nearly 20 years, Weehawken Dance has been shaped by the dancers, families, and teachers who have grown alongside it.
This is our story—told by the people who have lived it.
For the Love of Dance
This short film captures the heart of Weehawken Dance through the experiences of the dancers, families and teachers who make it what it is.
A Place to Love Dance—and Keep Loving It
“My daughter has been a part of Weehawken Dance since she was 5 years old; she’s now 14. It has been such a joy in her life! She loves to dance, and Weehawken teachers cultivate that love by putting their heart and soul into teaching.
The shows they put on twice a year are spectacular and rewarding for my daughter. The staff make the shows fun but also inspire my daughter to dance better to be a part of the excellence at Weehawken Dance.
The culture has been one that includes ALL children who love to dance and one of excellence in teaching dance skills. That combination of inclusivity and excellence in skills has kept my daughter dancing this long and kept our family supporting her in dance. It’s a joy!”
—Annie Tanner, Weehawken parent
What Families Have Seen
Parents share the difference Weehawken has made in their children’s lives.
“Weehawken Dance has truly transformed our daughter from the painfully shy child she was not long ago into the young lady brimming with confidence that she is today.
The friends she’s made through the program have become like a second family to her, providing companionship and support that have enriched her dance experience and her life beyond measure.”
—Nikki Corn
“Weehawken Dance provides a world-class opportunity in a rural setting. The outstanding instruction is individualized and specific to each student. Over time, the students develop into brilliant dancers. The performances are spectacular!
But most importantly, the program emphasizes the values that we want our kids to embrace—kindness, teamwork, self-discipline, hard work, inclusivity and community.”
—Meg Fibbe
“Weehawken Dance has been an incredible place for my daughter, Isla. The talented instructors have helped her grow not only as a dancer but also as a confident young lady.
I love how older students mentor younger ones, creating a supportive and inspiring environment. We feel so lucky to be part of this amazing dance family!”

More From Our Dance Community
“My daughter has danced with this program for nine years now. When she started, she took only one dance class—POMS at the time—just to try it. After her first show, Cinderella, we had to sign her up for more classes immediately!
She started with a lot of great role models, and now she is one of those role models. It really is an amazing experience to witness as a parent.”
—Ashley Brown
“Words can’t express how thankful we are for Weehawken Dance. My kids receive top-notch dance instruction, have TONS of fun and have been adopted into the most sincerely loving and inclusive ‘family’ we could ever hope for.
Weehawken has instilled in them a quiet confidence and a true ‘team’ mentality. We are forever grateful for this organization and the amazing humans who pour into our girls!”
—Carly Hornbeck-Brown
“We LOVE Weehawken Dance! Wolfe has been dancing for nine years and has grown so much as a dancer and performer.
He has learned the power of what a lot of hard work and dedication can bring to you. The shows are always huge highlights in Wolfe’s year, and we love watching them as well!
We are so thankful to the Weehawken family for their dedication to allowing our dancers to have an amazing dance experience!”
